Description:
George Wallis of Hull 8 gauge duck gun
The most celebrated gunsmith of Eastern Yorkshire England. This modified 8 gauge, .815 is basically an unused gun. The bore is smooth and the lock tight and firm with platinum blow out plug. It has an old repair on the left side, a common small crack. Interesting how it was repaired. The barrel is 48 inches long with original ramrod. The lock is a back action with English drip bar. Hammer cock is engraved as a fish. Was as flint gun but converted in 1827 as stamped on the buttstock. The conversion to percussion is quite fancy and enjoyable.
Cards and wads come with the gun. 12lbs
Buttplate is smooth. Signed George Wallis on the lock plate and barrel.
Made around 1790 to 1798. Mr Wallis passed around 1803. It must have cost a fortune back in the day!
