Here's a interesting shotgun owned by Capt . Horace Poole with the Iowa 1st Infantry- enlisted in 1861 as a Pvt . Came out in 1864 as a Capt . In 1870 he opened his own company buying and selling hi end food , cigars and many goods . He made many trips to London for Bussiness . And returned with this fine shotgun one trip . John Blissett and Son where making guns from 1867 thru 1875 . Serial number 4658 . Has Damascus barrels . 12 gauge . Factory Fine Schroll Engraved with game scenes on both sides of frame , butt plate andon trigger guard. Real Fancy Walnut wood . Fine checkering. Hand gaurd has a crack straight thru and repaired some time ago . Hammers have had there ears broken one has been repaired and one is missing . Bore and mechanics are Excellent Plus Condition. Overall in Excellent Condition. Leather Case is hand painted with h.h. Poole on lid . Case still has American travel tag on front . Case is in poor condition .
