32891- LEWIS & TOMES, NEW YORK CITY IMPORT PERCUSSION 12 GA. SIDE X SIDE SHOTGUN CIRCA 1840. 47” o/a with 30” Damascus barrels engraved on rib “LONDON FINE STEEL TWIST” with Birmingham proofs on the underside and stamped in small letters “H & S” in front of the proofs for well known Birmingham makers Hollis & Sheath. Additionally stamped with the serial number “3750” between the barrels on the underside of the rib. Game scene engraving on locks and trigger guard and scroll engraved on hammers and steel mounts. Checkered deluxe grade walnut stock and forend. 14” pull to steel butt plate. Rosewood ramrod. Very good overall with grey metal and lightly worn original finish on wood. Lock in working order and reasonably good bore. Lewes & Tomes were located in Maiden’s Lane and were well known importers and dealers from as early as the 1820’s. $525.
