Description: LONDON/NEW YORK Antique AW SPIES Marked Double Barrel SidexSide SHOTGUN LONG BARREL 12 Gauge Percussion Shotgun! Here we present an antique A.W. Spies Double Barrel Side Hammer Percussion Shotgun, made circa the 1850s in London. Adam W. Spies was a dealer in New York City, NY in the mid-19th century. He and his company dealt with makers in Europe and North America and was responsible for a sizeable market share in mid-19th Century United States. This shotgun would have been a nice hunting implement for the marsh, the field or the woods. It features a 12 gauge bore, a back-action percussion lock and sidelock hammers. The barrels are a very long 40-1/2 inches. This was just the sort of thing you would want on the Frontier for putting food on the table. It could also, of course, be pressed into a defensive or offensive role if called upon. The overall condition is good. The action is strong, and the bore is dark. With the light engravings and long barrel, this shotgun will surly be the centerpiece of any room its displayed in! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
