Mid-1800s Antique W.&C. SCOTT & SON Percussion DOUBLE BARREL HAMMER Shotgun 10 Gauge SIDE x SIDE w/LONDON FINE TWIST BARRELS
Description: Mid-1800s Antique W.&C. SCOTT & SON Percussion DOUBLE BARREL HAMMER Shotgun 10 Gauge SIDE x SIDE w/LONDON FINE TWIST BARRELS Here we present an antique W. & C. Scott & Sons Side by Side Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made circa the mid-1800s in Birmingham, England. W&C Scott was founded in 1832 by William and Charles Scott, in Birmingham, England producing high quality double shotguns. The company was renamed as W&C Scott & Sons when William Scott's sons, William Middleditch and James Charles, joined the business. The Scott brothers were responsible for several gun innovations including the block safety catch for hammerless guns and the double catch hammerless lock which is still in use today. William Middleditch was the first to design a sidelock shotgun. In 1897, W&C Scott & Sons amalgamated to become Webley and Scott Revolver and Arms Co Ltd, with Webley making revolvers and Scott still producing their shotguns. This would likely have been exported from England to the United States with a thriving market for all sorts of firearms. As people moved West and settled in remote areas, hunting was especially important to put food on the table and for protecting the homestead. This would have been a good gun for fowl hunting. The overall condition is very good. Robust action. The bores are in good shape for their ages. Light brown patina on metal parts. Solid stock throughout with sharp wrist checkering. Markings are legible. A thin crack is present on the forend that remains stable. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 29-1/2 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #233753 SOLD Antique: Yes |
