RARE CORSICAN VOLTIGEURS
PERCUSSION SHOTGUN WITH BAYONET, BY LABBE IN NIORT
Description: I purchased a large collection of antique French guns in Corsica last summer, among them were two shotguns with Corsican history. This particular shotgun is virtually identical to the Model 1850 Voltigeurs shotgun, a rare weapon used by a special unit of Corsican infantry formed to suppress bandits on the island. This might be a private purchase weapon, the stock is a lot more elaborate than standard issue model 1850 shotgun.Very good to fine overall condition, about 20 ga, action works fine, one barrel has a small dent at the crown and another one a microscopical split in the same area(pictured) Labbe in Niort was a gunmaker who made guns from 1839 to 1855, its possible he was contracted to make a few special order model 1850 shotguns. The last known Voltiguers shotgun sold for $ 4500, this one is priced a lot more reasonably. No license needed to buy except NJ and NYC residents. Antique: Yes Price: $1,999.00 Contact Seller |
