Henry Atkin of 18 Oxenden St. Haymarket, London (formerly of James Purdey) ~ Damascus Lovers Check Out These Barrels!
Description: Hammerguns - What a cool 20 gauge hammer gun! Check out the gold dog behind the top tang towards the hand. This is a very early Atkin ( lowest serial number I have ever seen) and it is noted on the rib that they did a conversion to breech loading on the gun. Bores are bright with some light pitting but with the thick walls could be confidently left or be easily back bored to a perfect shine. I would like to know the workman that built this gun as I know they were among London\'s finest. Damascus lovers check out this pattern ~ a rare two pattern twist that is stunning. Any one have an idea about what the gold dog was for? It seems like it may have been more than just for pretty but perhaps a signature of a gunmaker or engraver?
