AyA No. 2 20 Ga – SIDELOCK, ENGLISH GRIP, 26”, BARGAIN!, vintage firearms
Description: General Specs: AyA, 1973, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 2oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP14 3/4", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 400944 The AYA Nº 2 HAND DETACHABLE SIDELOCK is the pre-eminent “affordable” sidelock double gun, and the most famous model in the AYA line. Since its introduction in the late 1950s, tens of thousands of Nº 2’s have been sold in the United Kingdom, the United States, and everywhere that shooters value the superb balance and handling characteristics of a fine double gun. Mechanically, the Nº 2 is identical to the Nº 1, AyA’s flagship best model. Like the Nº 1, it was originally modeled on the time-tested Holland & Holland system. When looking at “BEST GUN” features, the AyA No. 2 has them all, and wraps them up in a very well made, well respected, affordable gun. Features like finely struck chopper-lump barrels, hand engraved sculpted action with beaded fences, hand-detachable sidelocks, articulated front trigger, removable firing pin bushings, long-tang trigger guard, finely figured European walnut stocked to the fences with drop-points, hand-checkered stocks all combine to make a very elegant gun. This gun was built in 1973 and remains in 95% factory original condition, with 98% deep rust blue on the barrels, 95% blue on trigger guard, action has lost most of its case color and is a pleasing silver/grey, and the hand-rubbed oil finish on the wood is mostly there with light handling marks and strong factory original checkering. The gun is mechanically excellent and is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN HAVING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON STRIPPED, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS SCRUBBED CLEAN, INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED, AND REASSEMBLED, NOW CARRYING A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. This is a $450 service in our shop. The 26” chopper lump barrels choked IC/M are still tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, the ejectors strong and well timed, trigger pulls crisp…all in superb condition. The wood on the gun is solid, with no cracks, most all the factory original finish, excellent checkering, and terminating in the factory checkered butt. Weighing just 6LBS. 2OZ. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, you could not ask for a nicer gun for your upland pursuits or forays on the clays course. This gun was built for the grouse and woodcock hunter, pheasant chaser, quail enthusiast with the perfect balance of 26” barrels and IC/M chokes. Please examine the photos closely and you will see a solid gun that is no longer “pristine and as new”, but very well cared for. For the avid bird hunter this is your chance to own and hunt a true sidelock for the price of a boxlock gun. If you want wood restored to remove scratches or little flaws, we can do that for you in our gunsmith department and have the gun in your hands for the upcoming seasons. The price for a new AyA No. 2 in today’s market is over $11,000 MSRP! We have priced this gun to sell well below market value, so please don’t hesitate to call or she will be gone!
