Description:
Manufactured by one Spain's finest gun makers in the late 70's, this AyA 12 Bore is in basically mint condition. (If you are not familiar with Spanish (Basque region) guns, look up books by Terry Wieland, one of the foremost authorties on them and see what he has to say!) The bores are bright and shiny with no blemishes. The barrels have their original bluing and only the very tiniest and nearly invisible minor blemishes for a gun that is 50 some years old. The lock has excellent case coloring as can be seen in the photos. The honey colored walnut stock is in very good condition with a deep, hard oil finish, and excellent checkering. My phone camera does not do the color justice. It is darker than it appears in these photos. It also does not have the muddy looking red/brown stain often found on some Spanish guns. The splinter fore-end is the Anson style plunger action and it is also oil finished with excellent checkering. The action is crisp and the triggers pull with authority. The gun is nice and tight and on face. The shoulder strap lugs have been removed and professionally plugged, but will come with the gun should a new owner want to re-install them. There is no cast to the stock, so this will work for a right or left hand shooter. I am a lefty and have found that this gun shoulders in beautifully. I will be shipping it in a Leg O Mutton case that I use to cart the gun around in, and it is sound but nowhere near as pretty as the gun! I know that you could buy a cheaper gun, but I am confident that you could not possibly buy a better gun at this price! Whomever the next owner is, that person is going to be delighted they bought this one!
