AYA mod 53 hvy duty 12 ga, gold washed 7 pin detachable locks, Purdey 3rd byte, side clips, deep full-coverage eng,1957 quality-98%, BT, strt grp
Description:
REDUCED-This elegant 1957 model 53 12 bore was designed for lots of shooting however this one has not seen much at all. It is very tight and in perfect mechanical order. Deep Engraving is 100% coverage and absolutely superb as is the very fine checkering.
I used it for pigeons in South America several times and is ideal for pigeon, dove, pheasant or duck. Special high nickel steel, Chrome lined bores, gold-plated, hand-detachable H & H style 7 pins locks, Purdey style 3rd bite and side clips, articulated front trigger. And yet a managable 7 pds 6 oz. The 28 inch barrels have 2 3/4 in chambers and lots of thickness with 12 pts choke in right (lite mod) and 22 points choke in left (lite IM). It has an elegant semi-beavertail forearm and 14 1/2 inch LOP to pad including a 1/4 " spacer (which can be removed and the pad refitted easily if so desired). Balances very well and has been meticulously cared for and was gone through by Jack Rowe in 2011 or so. Other than a couple of rounds of clays (one in 2025) It has not been shot at game in over 10 years when I stopped going to South America. Non- automatic safety.
To replace this gun of this quality today would be well over $60K.
