The AYA Nº 2 HAND DETACHABLE SIDELOCK is the pre-eminent “affordable” sidelock double gun, and the most famous model in the AYA line. Since its introduction in the late 1950s, tens of thousands of Nº 2’s have been sold in the United Kingdom, the United States, and everywhere that shooters value the superb balance and handling characteristics of a fine double gun. Mechanically, the Nº 2 is identical to the Nº 1, AyA’s flagship best model. Like the Nº 1, it was originally modeled on the time-tested Holland & Holland system. When looking at “BEST GUN” features, the AyA No. 2 has them all, and wraps them up in a very well made, well respected, affordable gun. Features like finely struck chopper-lump barrels, hand engraved sculpted action with beaded fences, hand-detachable sidelocks, articulated front trigger, removable firing pin bushings, long-tang trigger guard with rolled edge, nicely figured walnut stocked to the fences with drop-points, hand-checkered stocks all combine to make a very elegant gun. This gun was built in circa1960 and remains in excellent condition, with 98% deep rust blue on the barrels, 98% blue on trigger guard, 80% case colored action, fading to a warm silver in areas, especially around the balance point. The gun is mechanically excellent with 28” chopper lump barrels choked IC/M with mirror bores, still tight on hinge and action with a lever Right of Center, the ejectors are well timed, trigger pulls crisp…all in superb condition. The wood on the gun is solid, with good contrasting grain, excellent checkering, and terminating in the classic AyA checkered butt. There is a few field marks on the comb, we have included a photograph. We have priced this AyA No.2 taking into account these blemishes, Vintage Firearms can repair them if you would like us to. Any repairs on newly bought guns go straight to the top of the repair list, please call to discuss. Weighing just 6 3/4 pounds and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, this No. 2 is an Ultralight 12 bore upland gun! You could not ask for a nicer gun for your upland pursuits or forays on the clays course. The price for a new AyA No. 2 in today’s market is over $11,000 MSRP. We have priced this gun to sell so please don’t hesitate to call or she will be gone! You can see all the specifications below. Thanks for looking.
