Although the 687 EELL Classic Field represents the entry into the Beretta Premium line, there is nothing entry-level about this gun. A beautiful yet restrained scroll engraving pattern adorns the sideplates and action in full coverage. The wood to metal fit, the quality of wood, and the intricate engraving are all next level. A Prince-of-Wales style relaxed grip enables fast and intuitive shooting of flushing birds. The wooden buttplate, nearly invisible main action screw (bottom of receiver), and tightly-inletted long tang trigger guard with two indexed screws are subtle yet serious touches of class. The matte oil stock finish allows the wood to (metaphorically) shine while making the metalwork stand out all the more.
