Beretta Model 686 Onyx 12ga 3” O/U 26.5” Barrels, Excellent Condition
Description:
This is a beautiful over under shotgun. Beretta-made shotguns are highly thought of in just about any shooting circles that involves shotguns. The 686 Onyx was originally introduced in 1980s as a low-cost gun, though it is far nicer than most modern shotguns built around the concept of low-cost. It features scroll engraving on the trunnions and trigger plate screw. The Beretta name and logo are neatly engraved on the underside of the action and lightly inlayed with gold. The name “P. Beretta” is engraved on the left and right of the receiver and inlayed with gold as well. Unlike most shotguns, the 686 Onyx has the barrel length stamped on the upper barrel. In this case it is 26.5 inches. Both the fore end and stock are made of good quality wood and feature checkering. The fore end is of the Schabel type. There is a minor loss in the finish on the bottom of the forearm near where it meets the receiver, a small dot of discoloration on the lower edge of the Schnabel tip. The bluing on the barrels is in excellent condition as it is for the receiver. The 686 Onyx uses the Mobil-choke system. The over barrel has a full choke and the under barrel a modified choke. The bores of both barrels are in pristine condition. The 686 Onyx comes with just these two chokes. The gold inlay is worn in some places, most notably in the “P. Beretta” on the left side. The 686 Onyx has a single gold trigger and the barrel to be fired is selected using the center button on the safety. When selecting which barrel you want to shoot first, pushing the button to the right selects the over barrel, while pushing it to the left selects the under barrel. You do NOT have to move the selector after the first shot as the recoil from the first shot will set the trigger to fire the second shot. The ejectors work just fine. Chambered for 12-gauge 3-inch shells, the 686 Onyx would be suitable for a variety of game. There is no box.

The 686 Onyx has a single gold trigger and the barrel to be fired is selected using the center button on the safety. When selecting which barrel you want to shoot first, pushing the button to the right selects the over barrel, while pushing it to the left selects the under barrel. You do NOT have to move the selector after the first shot as the recoil from the first shot will set the trigger to fire the second shot. The ejectors work just fine. Chambered for 12-gauge 3-inch shells, the 686 Onyx would be suitable for a variety of game. There is no box.
