In an era where most examples have seen decades of field use, this BL-5 represents something increasingly difficult to find: a classic Italian over/under that has been carefully preserved and, according to the consignor, never fired by either of its two owners. We see no evidence to suggest otherwise.

Built in Gardone Val Trompia during a pivotal period in Beretta’s evolution, the BL-series represents the foundation of the modern over/under that would later evolve into the legendary 680 platform. These early guns carry a distinct mechanical feel and aesthetic-refined, balanced, and purposeful.

This example features 28” barrels with a ventilated, matted rib and a single silver front bead. The gun is choked Modified and Full, offering a versatile field configuration that remains highly usable today. The action is fitted with a single selective trigger and exhibits the clean, reliable lockup Beretta is known for.

The stock is configured with a pistol grip and grip cap, measuring 14 1/4” length of pull, 1 1/2” drop at comb, and 2 3/8” drop at heel, with approximately 1/8” cast off at the face. The gun weighs 7 lbs. 4 oz., giving it a steady, well-balanced presence in the hands without feeling overly heavy.

The walnut retains excellent figure and finish, complemented by crisp checkering. The receiver displays classic Beretta scroll engraving-tasteful, understated, and true to the period. Mechanically, the gun is tight, in time, and exactly what you would expect from a properly preserved Beretta of this era.

What makes this gun special is not rarity in production-but rarity in condition.
