Boss & Co., Ltd., London. Exceptionally nice pair of Vintage 12ga. light weight game guns, ordered by an American in 1925. Weight of each gun: 6 Lbs. 6 oz. Stock Dimensions: 14 ½”x 1 3/8”x 2 3/8”x ¼” cast-off. Barrel specifications for each gun are as follows: #1) 29” chopper-lump steel barrels with original 2 ½” chambers and brilliant bores (.730”/.731”), choked .009”/.016”, and minimum wall thickness .030”/.030”. #2) 29” chopper-lump steel barrels with original 2 ½” chambers and brilliant bores (.733”/.734”), choked .008”/.013”, and minimum wall thickness .030”/.030”. Both sets of barrels retain 98% black finish. Nicely engraved side-lock actions retain 90% original hardening colors and are mechanically perfect. Double triggers, ejectors, and automatic safeties. Beautifully figured original straight-grip stocks and splinter forends have been professionally and properly refinished at some point. Both guns have proper period leather covered butt pads. Original maker’s oak and leather case with complete compliment of accessories and original trade label remains in fine condition throughout. Accompanying copy of the original Boss ledger entry for 31st August 1925 is included. Overall a superb pair of Vintage light-weight Best British Game Guns and not easy to find today in this condition.
