This single trigger Boss comes in its oak & leather case with maker’s label and accessories including Boss snap caps, Boss oil bottle, two-piece cleaning rod and black leather handguard. Number 1 of a pair. Boss No. 4850 was made circa 1901 and weighs 6lb 9oz. Originally made with double triggers it was converted to the Boss Patent single trigger at some point. Has automatic safety and gold lined cocking indicators. *** The highly figured straight hand stock and splinter forearm have a beautiful satin finish with crisp checkering and drop points. Stock dimensions are 14-7/8” along a swept comb to a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8”. Cast off for the righthand shot. *** The 28 inch original “easy-opening” nitro steel barrels have 2-1/2” chambers and are topped by a raised solid concave game style rib. The right barrel is bored 0.736 and has a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.024. There are a few handling marks on the stock and a few very minor scratches on the barrels. This Boss was made when John Robertson ran the company and was active on the bench.
