Description:
Here we present a nice Belgian Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve semi auto shotgun in 12 gauge. Here we have a Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve 12 gauge semi auto shotgun made in Belgium by FN in 1968. The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. It was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun design, and remained in production until 1998. The name of the shotgun designates that it is an autoloader with a capacity of five rounds, four in the magazine and one in the chamber. Remington Arms and Savage Arms sold variants called the Remington Model 11 and Savage Model 720 that were nearly identical but lacked the magazine cutoff found on the Browning. The Browning Auto-5 was the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotgun. Designed by John Browning in 1898 and patented in 1900, it was produced continually for almost 100 years by several makers with production ending in 1998. It features a distinctive high rear end, earning it the nickname "Humpback. This particular example is in excellent mechanical condition and physically it is in very good condition overall. Picture 4 shows a spot on the right side of the barrel and picture 21 shows some cracking in the gloss finish. There is light high edge wear on the metal components and some handling marks on the stock which look to be consistent with going into and out of a safe. The 28" barrel has a vent rib, good bore and is choked fixed modified. Tasteful engraving on the receiver. This fine Belgian Browning Auto 5 would make a great field gun.
