1956 Vintage Belgian Browning A5 Light Twelve Shotgun w/ 30" Full Choke Barrel
** Handsome Lightly-Used Example ** SOLD
Description:
This is a very nice all-original and un-molested Belgian Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve shotgun manufactured in 1956. It features a 30" inch barrel choked "Full" with a 2.75" inch chamber. This Light Twelve has obviously lived a very easy life and appears to have been carried afield and fired very little since leaving the factory. The original gloss blue factory finish is bright and beautiful showing virtually no mechanical finish wear, only some minor handling marks and very light speckling from some minor surface rust long removed. As you can see from the pictures, these deductions are only visible under very close inspection and do not detract much from the extremely clean overall look of the gun. The 30" inch barrel in this Browning has a superb bore, mirror-bright with no pitting, dents, bulges, or imperfections of any kind. The internals of this shotgun are just as clean and free from wear as the exterior. The bolt and shell lifter which were left "in the white" from the factory are both very clean and free from any major staining. The factory gold finish on the trigger still shows lots of gold on the sides but has worn away on the face. The original checkered Walnut stock set is in very good condition overall. The checkering is still clean and crisp, the original factory clear finish shows only light wear and no spider cracking, and the original buttplate is in excellent condition. The only real duduction on this stock set is a small crack on the bottom of the forearm in the usual spot next to the receiver. As mentioned earlier, this Light Twelve is in excellent mechanical condition with all of the controls in perfect working order. The action is slick and slams into battery with authority, just like it left the factory last week rather than 63 years ago. We have no doubt that this Belgian-made Browing Light Twelve would make an excellent shooter as well as an investment, and would be a great addition to any collection.
