This was made by Remington for Browning in 1942, as Nazis had taken over the FN plant in Belgium in 1939, and they outsourced the production of these until regaining control of their production facility. Remington made the A5 for Browning from 1940-1946. Remington was making the Model 11 (discontinued in 1946), which was an A5 without the cut off feature, but as you can see from the pictures, the Remington made Browning A5 has the cut off feature (see picture of left side of receiver). The previous owner stated he had the barrel professionally cut down (so this item originally had a longer barrel and not the security length barrel shown in the photos).
