The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. The Browning Auto-5 was the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotgun. Designed by John Browning in 1898 and patented in 1900, it was produced continually for almost 100 years by several makers with production ending in 1998. It features a distinctive high rear end, earning it the nickname “Humpback". It is also an important piece of Browning/Winchester history.
This A5 Magnum Twelve, manufactured in 1984, is a fine example of that history and craftsmanship. It has some battle scars - shown in photos - but it is still in perfect working order. There were some holes drilled for a sling in the forearm wood, which is likely not the original, based solely on the color difference between it and the stock. There is some minor rust and blemishes along the receiver and barrel, but everything is still strong as the day it left the factory. Overall, this is still a nice gun with some marks, but I believe it tells a story about how long they last. Comes as is, no extras, just the gun.
