Browning Belgian Auto 5 16 ga. factory Gr. IV

Description:
Browning Auto 5, Gr. IV, 16 gauge semi automatic shotgun.  This truly beautiful A5 was made in 1929 and appears to be completely original and remains in very fine overall condition.  This gun is chambered for 16 gauge 2 9/16” (65mm) shells in the 28” solid rib barrel and the bore is mirror perfect.  Barrel blue is 97% with a small spot of surface rust under the barrel about 3” from the muzzle.
 
The frame (including the top tang), barrel and trigger guard are all engraved in what was Browning highest grade engraving pattern on the A5’s, the Grade IV.  This grade is quite unique and features flawlessly executed fine gold wire inlays in an intricate floral pattern along with gold plated trigger and safety.  The frame has developed an overall rich brown patina over the years.  Look at the last photo..Just above the slot for the operating handle there are two or three very small spots of rust, hard to see but there!
 
Handsome Gr. IV buttstock that is serial numbered to the gun, as is the trigger guard, barrel and of course, the frame.  I believe that the forearm was replaced a couple of years after the gun was built as it is serial numbered 117xxx (1931) and the gun is serial number 81777.  Also the checkering on the forearm is not quite as fine or detailed as on the buttstock.  Colors of both pieces match perfectly and most people would not know that they are not a matched set!
 
This is really a fine example of a very scarce pre-war Auto 5, especially in a 16 gauge.  Mechanically excellent and very, very handsome.
