Browning Diana 20 Gauge – 100% AS NEW, 28” IC/IM; CASED, BUTTPLATE, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Browning, Year 1969, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 12oz, Chokes IC/IM Factory, LOP 14 3/8, DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 57650V69 The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped. This fine Diana Grade, sn57650 V69 made in 1969, HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED AND RESTOCKED BY ART’S GUN IN MISSOURI, THE PREMIER BROWNING RESTORATION ARTIST IN THE USA. SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY AS A DIANA GRADE…NOT AN UPGRADE. NEW WOOD IS SPECTACULAR AND IS DEFINITIVELY A “NO SALT” GUN. The gun remains in 100% as new condition without a mark in wood or metal. This is a grand example of a Browning Diana Grade, with extraordinary wood, desirable round knob pistol grip, incredible hand cut, deep-carved engraving with deep-relief game scenes double signed by Louis Acampo (one of FN’s top engravers), shaded backgrounds, and wonderful bank-note style scroll. This gun retains 100% of the factory quality barrel blue and French Grey on the action, 100% of the gold plating on the triggers, and 100% wood finish with no handling or “safe” marks. While searching for your Superposed on the internet, keep in mind that some of the guns shown are guns that left the factory as Grade 1 guns and were later upgraded to a Diana Grade by Angelo Bee, Gino Cargnel, or one of the other FN engravers. Others are from the salt year between 1966 and 1972 that haven’t been restocked or certified by a competent source as “salt free”. None of these later guns are worth the value of a genuine Diana Grade restored by the nation’s best. Also, Skeet guns with fat forearms are all less valuable and hence may appear to be a “cheaper” alternative. Most of the Diana Grade guns being offered for sale have the less desirable 26” barrels and skeet chokes. Diana Grade guns with 28” barrels choked for chasing upland game bring a premium value. The gun is like a new gun with a tight action and barrels firm on the hinge and tight on face. The bores are excellent and the mechanics function perfectly. This is a gorgeous Diana Grade priced well under pre-1966 guns and will make a great field gun that will continue to grow in value as you enjoy its use. Having been through Art Isaacson’s shop guarantees top quality in all ways. For those who know about the wait time for restoring a vintage shotgun, it is usually over 1 year to have done. No waiting for this one! This Diana Grade is housed in a period correct Browning Airways hard case that is in near new condition (a $425 value in this condition). Time to treat yourself to one of the most handsome Superposed grades they made…the Diana Grade! Thanks for looking.
