1969 Belgian Browning A5 20 Gauge 28" Vent Rib Barrel Full Choke
Description:
This is a nice, honest, lightly-used and attractive 20 gauge Belgian Browning A5 shotgun. The Belgian made Browning A5 model has increasingly become a collected and sought-after model due to the classic design and unique lines combined with the high degree of quality of manufacture. This example is serial number 69Z42167, and was manufactured at the FN Browning plant in Belgium in 1969. It features a 28" inch ventilated rib barrel that is choked "Full" (1 star). It is in 100% original condition with the original factory blue finish and original stock set. The factory gloss blue finish rates a conservative 92 to 93%, with deductions for some light carry wear and high edge wear, and minor handling marks. The worst of the finish wear is at the natural balance point on the bottom of the receiver, the bottom of the trigger guard bow, and the lower tang. This can be seen in the pictures provided. The factory blue finish on the barrel has turned a little plum color as sometimes seen on this model and others from this time period from Browning This was due to the nickel and iron content of the steel and the temperature of the bluing tank. The vent rib on this barrel is nice and tight to the metal with a beautiful joint but one section of the vent rib is slightly dented. This can be seen in the 6th section back from the muzzle. This can easily be repaired by a competent gunsmith if the new owner so chooses. The bore in this A5 is minty and bright. It is free from pitting, dents, bulges, or any other imperfections. The gold finished trigger still shows 96 to 97% of the factory finish, and is one of the small touches that gives this gun such a great look. The original stock set is in great shape overall on this A5 Model. It shows some very minor handling marks and dent/dings, but is completely free from cracks or repairs. The checkering still feels good and looks nice and clean. The original factory FN black plastic buttplate is in excellent shape and free from cracks or chips. The length of pull is 14.25" inches to the end of the plate. Everything on this A5 20 gauge works 100% like the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a nice original Belgian A5 that isn't too nice to take to the field, but still nice enough that you are proud to be seen with it, this would be an excellent choice.
