Unusual Browning 20ga A5 Built in 1941 NIB
Description:
A very rare 20 gauge Browning A5 built in August of 1941.This rare gun was built for Browning by Remington using the tooling Remington used to built their Model 11.This gun is new and unfired in the original tan box with the original wrapping sleeves, manual, and even the old waxes paper. The gun has a 26" vent rib barrel with a factory polychoke. The box end label matches the guns serial number and is marked polychoke in the same ink as the serial number. This is a gun that I have never seen before in 45 years of collecting and selling Brownings. It is amazing that this gun has sat unused for almost eighty years. The only Remington markings are a single proof stamp and the date code on the bottom of the barrel. All othe markings on the gun say Browning.I am sure this was an attempt by Browning to get into the 20 gauge market but WWII broke out and they did not bring out a 20 until 1958. This is a piece of Browning history.C&R eligible.
