Description:
This is a spectacular Belgian Browning Superposed Grade 1 shotgun in 20 gauge. Originally manufactured in 1955, this shotgun was sent for a complete restoration at the renowned Art's Gun Shop in Arnold, Mo. 5 years ago, and is unfired since then. Browning originally introduced the Superposed over/under shotgun in 20 gauge to the American market around 1948. It was a huge commerical success, and quickly became the gold standard to which every other over and under shotgun were compared to. This example was made in 1955 and features a beautiful gloss blue finish, 26.5 inch ventilated rib barrels with 2.75" chambers choked "Skeet" and "Skeet", automatic ejectors, a single-selective trigger with a gold finish, and a checkered Walnut stock set with a clear gloss finish. As this shotgun is early production it has the sought-after long tang and round-knob pistol grip, as well as the genuine carved buffalo horn buttplate. As you can see from the pictures, this Superposed is in beautiful shape after the restoration, with a near perfect gloss blue finish rating 98 to 99% and perfect mirror-bright bores, free from any pitting, dents, bulges, or imperfections. The stock set is in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, or major damage. The only deduction we can find on the stock set is a small ding in the forearm above the release lever that happened when in storage. It is extremely minor and does not detract any appreciable amount from the clean overall look of the shotgun. The original horn buttplate is in excellent condition and perfectly fit to the buttstock, with a length of pull measuring 14.5" inches to the end of the buttplate. The action on this Browning is nice and tight, requiring you to open the barrels rather than just working the lever. The locking blocks in this gun are brand-new, and as such the lever sits to the right of the upper tang. As the gun is shot and broken in this lever will wear-in towards the left side. As it sits now for all intents and purposes this Superposed is like a brand-new shotgun. If you have been looking for a classy and beautiful shotgun for dove or quail hunting this year here is your chance. This 20 gauge Superposed would be the perfect choice for someone wanting one of these legendary shotguns to shoot that looks minty but is affordably priced.
