In the early decades of the twentieth century John Browning started to design something not available to American shooters, a high-quality, affordable over/under shotgun, sadly this was to be his last design, his final legacy to the gun world- The Superposed..  As you compare this gun to others, keep in mind that the most desirable Superposed guns are the long tang, round knob guns built before 1966.  This Superposed, sn17844 Grade 1 was manufactured in 1960 before the change to the short tang trigger guard and the beginning of the “salt-wood debacle”.  Guns built after 1966 were prone to salt contamination and rust because of the way Browning cured their wood.  Not all guns were affected, but the marketplace still has an aversion to the later guns with short tangs built from 1967 to about 1971.  The factory original metal and wood finish rate 99% and the mechanics are in excellent working order.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face and the top lever is just right of center.  There are few long tang round knob Browning Superposed Lightning 20 gauge guns offered for sale, but far fewer with the most desirable 28” barrel and modified and full chokes like this gun has.  It appears this gun has had its stock cut for a short-statured gunner, with a 13 9/16” length of pull to a Kick-Eez recoil pad.  The Kick-Eez pad is a gel type pad that is the very best at softening recoil.  This is great news for a youth or woman shooter who prefers not to feel the push of the shotgun on their shoulder.  We have priced this gun very, very affordably for a pre-1966 Browning Superposed because of the stock alteration.  This makes it a real steal for a shorter shooter or to get your woman started in the shooting sports.  Thanks for looking, and don’t hesitate to call now!
