About Us: I'm a mid-career professional & firearms enthusiast. I served in the US Army (2003-2006, OIF/OEF) as a SAW gunner and later as an RTO & designated marksman. The firearms I'm selling come from my private collection. I tend to collect some of the 'classic' sporting rifles & shotguns, and through the years I have come across a few pieces that are somewhat unique. I live in central Kentucky and I spend time in Georgia & Florida, as well. Instagram | @cot5r
Browning Superposed 20 Ga. O/U "Lightning" - 1965
Description: This was my father's quail gun. I relocated many years ago, was going on a hunt with some clients, and I was without an over-under. I was going to take a Remington 1100, and my dad loaned me his Browning 20 Gauge Superposed, instead. It's a classic shotgun with excellent craftsmanship. While it's not among the higher end grades of the Superposed, it does feature the long tang & gold trigger. Top | Skeet, Improved Cylinder Bottom | Skeet, Improved Cylinder (last photo has the Browning choke markings) The condition isn't pristine; it's been used. For what it's worth, this was the last firearm designed by John M. Browning. The Superposed requires no introduction, but for those who are interested, there are ample sources for volumes on the topic of John M Browning's legacy. Chances are, one of your firearms has a part, or a function, that falls under one of Browning's patents. It's Belgium-made, with a serial number of 35,996 V5 (as seen in 4th photograph). Manufactured in 1965. PS - Special thanks to a fellow GI buddy (Steve A., from CT), who called to correct me on a thing or two. Thanks, Steve! PSS - Thanks to other GI members, who reached out with suggestions (choke, barrel length, etc.). I'm grateful for the friendly tips. SOLD Shotgun Gauge: 20 Gauge Manufacturer: Browning Model: Superposed Serial Number: 35,996 V5 Stock Drop: 2-1/8 LOP: 13-3/4" (incl. buttpad) Manufacture Date: 1965 Chokes: Skeet / Improved Cylinder Engraving: Yes Case: N/a Item Location: Lexington, KY (USA) |
