The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Production of the Browning Superposed was undertaken in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped. Pigeon guns were and still are very high quality and robustly made to handle the constant recoil of stiff pigeon loads. Manufactured with heavy loads in mind, these guns are well-built and sturdy. All Browning Pigeon Grade guns have high grade wood, fit, finish, engraving, and Browning’s usual all around excellence. This small gauge set, sn1752 F7, was made in 1967. This was a time when salt-cured stock wood plagued Browning causing rust problems with some of their guns. Our in-house gunsmithing department has tested this gun’s wood and THE WOOD IS SALT FREE AND IS NOT PART OF THE SALT WOOD DEBACLE. We have certified this in writing, and a LETTER OF GUARANTY goes with the gun at time of sale. The barrels are superb, with rich factory bluing, mirror bores and ventilated matte ribs. The highly figured wood on the stock and forearm are fit perfectly to the metal surfaces and are finished with a beautiful satin luster. The forend and round knob pistol grip are checkered in a point pattern. The stock terminates in a factory Browning plate. The receiver, trigger guard, and break lever are engraved with fine scroll patterns as well as floral bouquets on the bottom of the receiver and two pigeons in flight on each side of the action, Browning’s leaf design adorns the upper edge of the receiver. The fine engraving and coin finish give a lively look accented by the slightly worn gold wash trigger. Sub gauge Superposed are highly sought after, and this set is an absolute stunner!
