The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history.  Produced in plain jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when regular production stopped.   In 1967 Browning introduced the Superposed "SUPERLIGHT" in the 12ga. and finally was born a true upland bird gun.  The Superlight was an instant success amongst upland hunters.  A typical Browning Lightning 12ga. weighed about 7 1/4lbs.  At 6lbs. 10oz. and balanced perfectly between the hands, this 12 bore Superlight is almost 3/4lb. lighter!  This is a dynamic upland bird gun, with its straight hand stock, rounded frame, and slim field style forend that can be carried all day without fatigue.  This gun, sn87141 S8 built in late 1968, has not been altered since leaving the factory, a rare find.  THERE WERE ONLY 88 SUPERLIGHTS EVER MADE IN PIGEON GRADE, SO THIS IS A SUPER-RARE BROWNING.  The serial number would place the action as being made in 1968, but the Pigeon Grade Superlight wasn’t catalogued until 1971, so either it was custom ordered in 1968 as a Pigeon Grade, or the Superlight action was serial numbered in 1968 but not put to a gun until 1971.  The barrels, action, and trigger guard retain 99% factory finishes.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, have mirror shiny bores, and the top lever well right of center.  The screws are perfect, and the mechanics are as well.  This gun has not been shot much at all.  The wood is highly figured with no cracks or repairs, perfect checkering and wood to metal fit, factory original finish with normal field marks, and a 14 1/4” LOP to the factory buttplate.  WE HAVE SALT TESTED THIS GUN IN OUR SHOP AND GUARANTEE IN WRITING IT IS A “NO SALT” GUN.  SEE LETTER IN PHOTOS. There are few Over/Under 12ga. shotguns that weigh under 7lbs.  This gun will work equally well on the sporting clays course.  See below for the specifications of the gun.  The Browning Superlight Pigeon Grades have been going up in value in the last few years, making for a great investment quality gun that will be worth more in the future as you care for it and enjoy its use.  If you want the wood restored to new within 10 weeks of purchase, we can do that.  Thanks for looking!
