Browning Superposed 12 gauge Pigeon grade 2 barrel set St. Louis address from 1957
Description:
This is a Browning Superposed shotgun; one of the finest guns made by some of the best craftspeople in the world to exacting standards as set out by Val and John Val Browning. During the period of this gun's manufacture the Browning Arms Company changed the model nomenclature from pre-war designation names to Grades I-VI and extra barrels could only be ordered in the same gauge as the original gun. This original factory special ordered configuration is one 30" barrel choked full/modified and chambered 2-3/4" and one 28" barrel choked skeet and skeet chambered 2-3/4" too, which is kind of the ultimate flexibility in a shotgun. The hardshell case from this era, that this gun resides in, is referred to as a Tolex case and they have blue velvet lining, and a brass Browning label on the outside top. Engraved guns signed by Browning's top the engraver, Felix Funken, are most desirable, which this gun is. His signature can be seen in the bottom rear of the frame. The stock on this Superposed has not been cut and has the correct LOP of 14-1/4 inches. The drop at the comb and heel are factory as well. The barrel address for this 1957 gun is "St. Louis, Missouri".
