Browning Superposed Pigeon Grade 20 ga. 28" IC/M circa 1962
Description:
Browning Superposed Pigeon 20 gauge O/U shotgun. Made in 1962 with 28” vent rib barrels, choked IC/Mod, with 2 ¾” & 3” chambers. Of course it is a Long Tang, Round Knob configuration with field style forearm.
As customary for early 1960’s Superposed guns this Pigeon is stocked with handsomely grained French Walnut. The LOP on this gun has been lengthened with the addition of an elegant black, full leather 5/8” recoil pad to 14 ½”. 1 ½” DAC and 2 3/16” DAH; with neutral cast.
Seems as though the early 60’s Pigeon Grade guns had very nicely engraved pigeons and this is no exception…very nice engraving.
The gun is very tight and mechanically perfect. Being made in 1962 it is now just over 60 years old and with that age comes some light edge wear that appears a little bright than the Pigeon gray because of the lacquer having been worn through. There are also some ultra-fine scratches (see photo) under the lacquer to the left/top of the safety.
All in all a great configuration and a really nice Pigeon Grade Superposed
