Browning Superposed 12 Gauge – SUPERLIGHT, M/F, RARE, 1 OF 88 MADE, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Browning, Year 1972, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 11oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 9/16" Serial Number: 14152S72 The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most prolific designs. Produced in plain jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when regular production stopped. In 1967 Browning introduced the Superposed "SUPERLIGHT" in the 12ga. and finally was born a true upland bird gun. Available only in the Grade 1 until 1971 when all the engraving patterns were catalogued, the Superlight was an instant success amongst upland hunters. A typical Browning Lightning 12ga. weighed about 7 1/4lbs. At 6lbs. 11oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, this 12 bore Superlight is almost 3/4lb. lighter! This is a dynamic upland bird gun, with its straight hand stock, rounded frame, and slim field style forend that can be carried all day without fatigue. This gun, sn14152 S72 built in late 1972, is one of only 209 graded 12ga. Superlight guns made between 1971 and 1977. THAT IS RARE, BUT THERE WERE ONLY 88 EVER MADE IN PIGEON GRADE, AND MOST WERE IC/M CHOKED, SO THIS IS A SUPER-RARE BROWNING! Better yet, the gun is in near new condition with no visible wear on the gun, just a few handling marks. The wood is highly figured with no cracks or repairs, perfect checkering and wood to metal fit, superb finish and a 14 ¼” LOP to a Browning factory pad…very classy! Highly desired by upland hunters that are in the know, it is rare to even find one for sale. With the very rare M/F chokes you have the finest pheasant and sharptail upland gun you could hope for in an over/under. There are few Over/Under 12ga. shotguns that weigh under 7lbs. This gun will work equally well on the sporting clays course as well. See below for the specifications of the gun. The Browning Superposed Superlight 12ga. guns have been going up in value in the last few years, so they are a great investment quality gun that will be worth more in the future as you care for it and enjoy its use.
