**SOLD** Belgian Browning Auto 5 Light 12 Semi Automatic Shotgun 12 Gauge **Belgian - Excellent Field Gun**
Description:
Here we have a 1970 mfg Belgian Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve semi automatic shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. It was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun design, and remained in production until 1998. The name of the shotgun designates that it is an autoloader with a capacity of five rounds, four in the magazine and one in the chamber. Remington Arms and Savage Arms sold variants called the Remington Model 11 and Savage Model 720 that were nearly identical but lacked the magazine cutoff found on the Browning. The Browning Auto-5 was the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotgun. Designed by John Browning in 1898 and patented in 1900, it was produced continually for almost 100 years by several makers with production ending in 1998. It features a distinctive high rear end, earning it the nickname "Humpback". This particular example has some high edge wear and other marks that come from normal use. This gun is an outstanding "user" condition Belgian Auto 5. The 26 inch plain barrel has a very nice bore and is fixed choked modified. Though not pristine this is an outstanding shotgun and it has many future years of use left in it....most of the bluing loss is on the bottom of the trigger guard and around the loading port which is where you would expect it to wear. The wood is in very nice condition with a few dings but nothing major and the semi gloss finish is checking a little but there are no cracks. This Belgian Browning would make an outstanding addition to an existing collection or a great first hunting gun.
