Description:
This is a beautiful all-original and all-matching 1951 production FN Browning A5 16 gauge shotgun. This X-prefix gun appears to have spent it's entire life in storage and could possibly be unfired. It shows absolutely no evidence inside or out that it has ever been fired or even carried afield. The original factory gloss-blue finish is spectacular and rates 99% like-new. The upper and lower tang, trigger, and even the bottom of the receiver have a perfect blue finish with no wear. The factory polished bright bolt is spotless with a perfect bolt-face. The 26" inch (25.5") barrel has a 2.75" inch chamber and is mirror-bright and pristine. There is no pitting, dents, bulges, or visible imperfections of any kind. The barrel is choked "Modified" (two stars). The original stock set is in excellent overall condition, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. The only deduction from the factory stock set is from a spot on the bottom front of the forearm and on the bottom of the pistol grip where some gun oil likely degraded the glossy wood finish long ago (pictures provided). Neither of these two places do much to detract from the beautiful looks of this 16 gauge Browning. The checkered panels on both the forearm and buttstock are crisp and clean, and the factory FN-branded horn buttplate is still in place and in good condition All of the numbered parts on this gun are matching, including the bolt, barrel, and even the two large action screws in the sides of the receiver. This was one of the last years of the safety mounted in the front of the triggerguard. This Auto-5 is in perfect working order, and all of the controls are 100% functional. We have no doubt it would shoot just as well today as the day it left the factory 68 years ago. If you have been looking for a truly special 16 gauge Browning A5, here is your chance to get one of the best X-prefix guns we have ever seen.
