From my personal collection. I've owned this gun since 2007 and have never assembled it. This is one of the remaining Browning A-5 Classics, 1 of 5000. It is serial number 2638. In 1983, Browning contracted with FN to manufacture and engrave 5000 Auto-5's known as the "Classic". Although the Classic was made in Japan, FN in Belgium engraved each of them. The gun was subsequently made available in 1984. The wood on this limited edition series is phenominal abnd has some of the best character I've ever seen. I've owned a lot of Classics and this is the best I've had in my hands. There are no flaws, dings, scratches in the wood or metal. Some metal parts still have factory cosmoline grease to protect the finish and you may see it near the ejector. The barrel is has a very deep bluing and the bore is bright and shiny. Barrel is 28" modified. If this gun was fired, it would have only been a few times from the factory during test fire.
All Classic models were appointed with select, figured walnut, chosen for beauty of grain. The walnu features fine hand chekering, traped in a traditional carved border. Browning's famous housemark, a gold finished trigger is furnished on this model. This gun is a Light 12.
