Browning ~ Citori ~ 12 Gauge
Description: For years, the esteemed Browning Superposed over-under shotgun was the gold standard for clay shooters around the world. However, its high price point was still out of reach for many. Browning, in 1973, unveiled the Citori—a more affordable over-under shotgun with less detail work or premium appointments but keeping with the reputation of quality that came with the Browning brand. While the Superposed was discontinued in 1986, the Citori continues today as Browning's signature line of over-under shotguns, with a wide array of variants for shooters of all sizes, ages, and applications. This Citori shotgun is a 1986-built shotgun with a few interesting characteristics. The silver alloy receiver and engravings are the same as would be used for an 80's-era White Lightning Citori, but no White Lightnings featured the furniture or barrel used on this gun. The walnut furniture is a wide, flat, checkered forend and a flat knob pistol grip stock often used on target shotguns (trap, skeet, sporting clays). In conjunction with the furniture, the barrels measure at 30" and have a checkered high target rib with standard and mid beads—both white plastic. Sporting White Lightnings would have had ported barrels and different forends. Between the finish, furniture style, and barrel/rib, this particular Citori has not matched any well-documented Browning models, but is closest to the Citori Hunter Grade; it is also possible that this shotgun was made specifically for the European market. The shotgun, though not marked as such, is made in Japan by the Miroku factory. This is indicated by the proof marks on the barrel. The shotgun also features a rubber Pachmayr Decelerator buttpad. The finish on this gun is in very good condition. The high-polish bluing has been well-taken-care-of and only shows wear around the edges and beneath the forend. The receiver has no scratches or dings and the low-relief engravings are still very visible. The stock has one small indentation at the rear of the right side and a couple small chips on the top and near the safety tang. The forend is a little dirty inside the checkering. Otherwise, the furniture looks to be undamaged and the checkering is still fairly sharp; the overall integrity of the wood is very much intact. This shotgun has a fixed full choke on the top and threaded for standard Invector chokes on the bottom. The shotgun includes one installed Briley improved modified choke. The barrels are bored for 2 ¾" 12 gauge shells. This Citori includes a generic box. 12 Gauge Chambers: 2 3/4 Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 30 Triggers: Single selectable Stock Dimensions: 14 1/2" LOP Fore End: Wide walnut Butt Pad: Rubber Pachmayr Decelerator Weight: 8 lbs.
