1903 Browning Automatic 5 piece of history
Description: 1903 Browning Automatic 5 12 GA piece of history. According to “The Book” on the Browning Auto-5 (Shirley and Vanderlinden) 4,121 shotguns were shipped in 1903 of the first order (of 10,000) John M. Browning placed for his world altering shotgun. What you are looking at is part of that shipment (serial number 3890). 26” barrel has matching serial number and is marked “BROWNING AUTOMATIC ARMS CO OGDEN UTAH U.S.A.” You have to wonder how many of these still exist which a matching barrel and in this condition? Not Many…. Receiver was re-blued at some point (maybe the barrel as well, not sure). Not test fired but appears to function as it should. The stock fit at the receiver is not flush but as best I can tell based on the butt plate the stock seems to be a “1903” but I am not an expert. Regardless, the stock and forend appear to be a matching set. A true historic piece any Auto 5 / A5 collector will treasure.
