Description: An absolute ONE OF ONE - Built in 1977 right at the transition era from Exhibition to the P-series with 26-1/4" barrels that have matted tapered ventilated rib with white front bead. Barrels with usual maker's stamps and small ring of engraving at breech ends. Left side of brl with ** & * (Mod/full) choke stamps. Bottom of flats also stamped "PLETSERS". (Paul Pletsers a Belgium Browning Gunsmith). Schnabel tipped walnut forend is near full coverage point pattern checkered and has shaded floral engraved latch release and iron. Coin finished Superlight rounded receiver is spectacularly shaded floral scroll engraved in full coverage with gold inlaid duck in marsh scene on left and right, bottom in gold oval. Bottom of frame with gold ducks in marsh scenes. Long tang trigger guard with sleeping mallard in gold surrounded by scroll. All of this work signed proudly by Master Factory engraver "C. THYS". Top of frame, lever, and top tang engraved en-suite. Beautifully figured round knob pistol grip walnut buttstock is point & wave pattern checkered through the wrist and terminates with a checkered butt. Gun is housed in a modern Browning brand canvas and brown leather case. We believe this gun could have been a factory prototype for the Waterfowl Series - please note the similarities in engraving and configuration!
This exceptional Browning remains in extremely fine overall condition and showing very limited field use. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are excellent. A beautiful, top shelf Exhibition Superposed with exceedingly tasteful engraving!
