This is a very nice Caesar Guerini O/U shotgun which features genuine hand engraving, the work being done by Bottega C. Giovanelli (Bottega = Shop). It is an Ellipse Evo model. The hand engraving consists of scroll and floral patterns on almost the entire surface area of the receiver. The receiver features a hand polished coin finish using a finishing compound called Invisalloy™. This allows the receiver to have the appearance of being bare metal while still being protected from the elements. The barrels are 31.875 inches or 81 cm long with a full-length rib. In a day and age when vent ribs are common, the Ellipse Evo features a solid rib tapering in thickness from 9mm to 7mm. The front sight consists of a simple silver bead. There are some minor spots of rust in few places on the barrel, but these have been cleaned out. I would rate the bluing at 98 percent. The Walnut furniture is very beautiful although there is some handling wear on the bottom, which can be seen in the pictures. The few light indentations that are present are fairly shallow and could be steamed out without much difficulty. There is one notable ding on the lower left hand side. The pistol grip cap also shows relatively light handling wear. The checkering is 26 lines per inch. The wood itself is finished in a had rubbed oil. In pictures 3 and 10, there is what appears to be a straight “crack” on the back of the wrist connected to the checkering pattern on each side. This is in fact an intentional “V-shaped” line cut into the back of the wrist by the factory. It is there for decorative or artistic reasons. Mechanically, the Ellipse Evo’s extractors work perfectly. The bores are in superb shape. The Ellipse Evo normally comes with 5 chokes; however, this one comes with a total of eight Maxis chokes, with two Cylinders, two Improved Cylinders, one Skeet, one Light Modified, one Improved Modified, and one Modified. Currently, both barrels are fitted with the Improved Cylinder chokes. The barrel selector is integral with the safety. The solid rubber Kick-EEZ butt pad appears to be factory fitted instead of the usual wooden butt plate for reducing felt recoil. Factory fitting is suspected because the Kick-EEZ matches the contour of the butt stock very well – too well to be a simple “drop-in”. Caesar Guerini Ellipse Evo 12ga O/U HAND Engraved w/Original Case, Extra Choke Tubes

This is a very nice Caesar Guerini O/U shotgun which features genuine hand engraving, the work being done by Bottega C. Giovanelli (Bottega = Shop). It is an Ellipse Evo model. The hand engraving consists of scroll and floral patterns on almost the entire surface area of the receiver. The receiver features a hand polished coin finish using a finishing compound called Invisalloy™. This allows the receiver to have the appearance of being bare metal while still being protected from the elements. The barrels are 31.875 inches or 81 cm long with a full-length rib. In a day and age when vent ribs are common, the Ellipse Evo features a solid rib tapering in thickness from 9mm to 7mm. The front sight consists of a simple silver bead. There are some minor spots of rust in few places on the barrel, but these have been cleaned out. I would rate the bluing at 98 percent. The Walnut furniture is very beautiful although there is some handling wear on the bottom, which can be seen in the pictures. The few light indentations that are present are fairly shallow and could be steamed out without much difficulty. There is one notable ding on the lower left hand side. The pistol grip cap also shows relatively light handling wear. The checkering is 26 lines per inch. The wood itself is finished in a had rubbed oil. In pictures 3 and 10, there is what appears to be a straight “crack” on the back of the wrist connected to the checkering pattern on each side. This is in fact an intentional “V-shaped” line cut into the back of the wrist by the factory. It is there for decorative or artistic reasons. Mechanically, the Ellipse Evo’s extractors work perfectly. The bores are in superb shape. The Ellipse Evo normally comes with 5 chokes; however, this one comes with a total of eight Maxis chokes, with two Cylinders, two Improved Cylinders, one Skeet, one Light Modified, one Improved Modified, and one Modified. Currently, both barrels are fitted with the Improved Cylinder chokes. The barrel selector is integral with the safety. The solid rubber Kick-EEZ butt pad appears to be factory fitted instead of the usual wooden butt plate for reducing felt recoil. Factory fitting is suspected because the Kick-EEZ matches the contour of the butt stock very well – too well to be a simple “drop-in”. As mentioned in the title, the Ellipse Evo comes with the original factory case, as well as the plastic choke case, wrench, and owner’s manual. The hard case is velvet-lined and is very nice. There is also a set of velvet stock sleeve and a barrel sleeve. For those interested in purchasing the Ellipse Evo, requests for extra pictures are welcome.
