Orvis Classic 20 Ga – CHAPUIS ROUND ACTION, 30” BARRELS, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Orvis Chapuis, 2017, 20 Gauge, 6lbs, 4oz., Chokes SK/SK, LOP 14 7/8″, DAH 2 3/8″, DAC 1 7/16″ Serial Number: 62211 Orvis introduced a very popular Orvis Classic side by side shotgun with a rounded, fancy-back action, nicely figured European walnut stocks, with a very strong and significant parallel locking action with a huge locking lug similar to the Browning Superposed shotguns that were made in Belgium. These guns are produced to Orvis specifications by Chapuis Arms of France, a maker well known for smart designs and very strong, substantial actions. In fact, they use the same action on their high-power double rifles. The Orvis Classic was advertised as being available in standard dimensions, which included a 28” set of barrels. This particular gun, sn62211 built in 2017, was custom ordered with a set of 30” barrels and took the previous owner over a year to receive. Most shooters in today’s world want longer barrels for use in the field and on the sporting clays course, especially for those that hunt in the western Great Plains or Texas quail ranches. This gun has been used only a few times and still retains 99.5% of the original factory finishes on wood and metal. It comes in the factory supplied Negrini protective case with all the original paperwork. The gun weighs a very nimble 6lbs. 4oz. even with the long slender barrels. The 30” barrels are proof tested for steel shot, have factory 3” chambers, and are choked LM/M for your upland hunting and perfect sporting clays chokes. Steel shot proofed is handy for waterfowl hunting or hunting any birds on the areas that have non-toxic shot restrictions like the Waterfowl Management Areas in the West. Heck, even some gun clubs have gone non-toxic! AS A BONUS, THERE IS A SET OF BRILEY ULTRALIGHT SUB-GAUGE FULL LENGTH TUBES FITTED TO THESE BARRELS IN .410 BORE WITH SCREW IN SKEET CHOKES. The tube set has 2 ½” chambers but having spoken to Briley we have found they can be opened to 3” chambers for $75 if you so choose. Extra chokes can be purchased as well providing a lot of versatility for field or clays. The .410 tube set is a $800 added value to this package. What a great opportunity to own an “as new” Orvis Classic with special order barrels for a great price and no waiting for delivery! With the long barrels, long 14 7/8” LOP, and English stock, this is one RACY LOOKING GUN! There are no others like this one, so it will not last long. If you like long-barreled, small-bore guns with gorgeous wood and modern steels, then don’t hesitate on this one. It won’t last long with the hunting season upon us. Thanks for looking!
