Charles Boswell 12 Bore Hammergun with 30” Damascus Barrels
Description: Cased Charles Boswell 12 bore hammer game gun with 30” Damascus barrels. The gun is choked cylinder and full. Length of pull of 15 1/8” to an orange rubber pad.
Straight hand grip, double triggers on a square bar action, rebounding hammers, top lever, extractor, slightly raised concave game rib with single brass front bead, snap-on forend release, drop points, wraparound checkered wrist, checkered splinter forend, and a vacant silver oval on the toe line. The gun is housed the maker’s brass cornered oak and leather case with blue baize, maker’s label, charge sheet, and snap caps. The gun was reproofed in London in 1984 to 3 tons per square inch with 2 ½” chambers. Chambers measure just shy of 2 ¾”.
Rose and scroll engraved with maker’s name in banners on both sides. Case color hardened action and blued furniture. Exhibition grade walnut stock. Excellent overall condition. Faint case colors remain only under the top lever, the rest of the action has silvered. Excellent bores and Damascus pattern on barrels. Some pitting under the forend. The refinished wood and checkering show very little evidence of use. Top lever slightly left of center and the barrels are slightly off face.
