Cased Charles Boswell 12 bore pigeon hammergun with 30” Damascus barrels. The gun is choked full in both barrels. Length of pull of 14 15/16” to a brown leather covered pad.
Prince of Wales grip, double triggers on a square bar action, cross-bolt third bite, side clips, rebounding hammers, springed nipples, top lever, extractor, slightly raised flat filed rib with single front bead, drop points, wraparound checkered wrist and splinter forend with mullered borders, a vacant silver oval on the toe line, and an Anson push button forend release. The gun is housed the maker’s brass cornered leather case with red baize, maker’s label, snap caps, two-piece cleaning rod, mop, brass brush, and loop end to be used with patches. The gun was reproofed in London in 1993 with 2 ¾” chambers. Chambers measure 2 ¾”.
Adorned with full coverage of rose and scroll engraving with maker’s name in banners on both sides. Case color hardened action and blued furniture. Well figured walnut stock with straight grain across the wrist. Excellent overall condition. The action has silvered. Very good bores with minor frosting and excellent Damascus pattern on barrels. Some silvering under the forend. The refinished wood and checkering show very little evidence of use. The barrels remain on face while the top lever is slightly left of center.
