The Cogswell & Harrison Windsor is a beautifully balanced modern game gun that combines classic British styling with the precision and reliability of contemporary Italian craftsmanship. Built by F.A.I.R. (Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini) in Italy for the historic London gunmaker Cogswell & Harrison, the Windsor offers the elegance of a traditional English field gun while incorporating modern features such as 3-inch chambers, interchangeable chokes, and High Performance Steel Shot proofed barrels. Manufactured in 2015, this example is an ideal companion for upland birds, waterfowl, and driven game.
Chambered in 20 gauge with 3-inch chambers, the shotgun is fitted with 30-inch barrels weighing a lively 6 pounds 11.7 ounces. The barrels are threaded for Technichoke interchangeable choke tubes and include Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, and Modified chokes suitable for both steel and lead shot, along with Improved Modified and Full chokes for lead shot. The barrels carry High Performance Steel Shot proof, allowing the use of modern non-toxic ammunition where required. A ventilated matted rib with a traditional gold front bead completes the classic sighting plane.
Built on a proven boxlock action, the shotgun features a gold single selective trigger, automatic safety, and ejectors. It remains in excellent overall condition with only the faintest handling wear consistent with careful use. The bores are clear, the trigger is crisp, the action is smooth and locks up tightly, the ejectors are strong and in time, and the shotgun is mechanically excellent.
The coin-finished receiver is attractively engraved with elegant scrollwork and game scenes, giving the Windsor the refined appearance expected from one of Britain's most distinguished sporting names. The richly blued steel barrels provide a striking contrast to the engraved action while maintaining the understated elegance of a traditional game gun.
The shotgun is stocked with a well-figured walnut stock and matching Schnabel-style forend. Sharp diamond-point checkering provides a secure grip, while the classic walnut buttplate completes the traditional English aesthetic. The dimensions and lively weight make this an exceptionally comfortable gun to carry through a full day's hunt.
The shotgun is housed in its original Negrini hard case bearing the Cogswell & Harrison logo, completing an attractive factory package.
