SCARCE Engraved Antique COLT Model 1878 10 Gauge Side x Side HAMMER SHOTGUN Double Barrel Made in 1881 with Damascus Barrels
Description: SCARCE Engraved Antique COLT Model 1878 10 Gauge Side x Side HAMMER SHOTGUN Double Barrel Made in 1881 with Damascus Barrels Here we present an antique Colt Model 1878 Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1881. The Model 1878 was made from 1878 to 1889, with approximately 22,683 guns manufactured. These double barrel shotguns were an exposed hammer double gun that competed closely with high-end Parkers. The Colt Model 1878 Double-Barrel Hammer Shotgun is considered to be, if not the finest, one of the finest American double-barrel shotguns ever made. Manufactured from 1878-1889, the Model 1878 Shotgun was the highest priced item in the Colt line and was available in almost any grade as a special order item. This double trigger shotgun is a 10 gauge solid rib with 30 inch barrels. According to one source, “the Model 1878 Hammer Gun ranks among the best grade doubles produced in the entire American arms trade. The limited number completed and the great pains devoted to handling specific orders from often fussy shooters means that a considerable degree of quality and variety is evident in the Model 1878 series.” The overall condition is good+. The actions are strong. Nice Damascus pattern remains on the barrels and some case colors are yet visible on the locks. The bores are bright and reflective, but the right barrel does contain slight pitting towards the breech. This example has it all, beautiful wood grain, Damascus barrels, engraved receiver, and the Colt name. Don’t miss this addition for the collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 30 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1925 #200960 SOLD Antique: Yes |
