D. Vicknair Bar-in-Wood, Rising Bite, Sidelock, Sidelever 28GA
Description: A completely unique, one of a kind and entirely hand made shotgun. It is not based upon an existing action, nor is it a conversion of an existing gun. From design to stocking, eveything was done here, by me and me alone, using completely manual methods. No CNC, no castings, no rough parts, no "repurposed" parts or outside help was employed. How many "gunmakers" can honestly say that? Proving that one person really can make the entire gun was, in fact, the sole reason for my undertaking this project. Having fulfilled its purpose, this unique double is now offered for sale. See the September/October 2021 issue of Shooting Sportsman magazine for a full writeup. The entire construction is also detailed on my site (just search my name). It's been said that the rising bite is the most challenging action to make, and I'd agree with that, as this project consumed approximately 2000 hours in total. The 28 inch barrels are choked .005" and .018". The stock dimensions are: drop comb 1 10/32", drop heel 2 10/32", pull 15 5/8", pitch 5 degrees (down), cast is neutral and the weight is 5.75 pounds. It is stocked in an amazing piece of Turkish walnut (imported specifically for this project) with a leather covered pad that is unlike any other. The photos tell the rest. Opportunities to own the only example (of anything) don't often arise, here's one of them. Although I purposely left the gun in the white, the sale price will include blacking of the barrels with the balance done in French grey, or, it can be left as I originally envisioned it. Offered at a fraction of what it would cost to duplicate (to fund new shop equipment). Please, serious inquiries only. SOLD Shotgun Gauge: 28 Gauge |
