John Dickson & Son 12 Bore Boxlock Ejector in Excellent Condition
Description: John Dickson & Son 12 bore Anson & Deeley boxlock ejector with coin finish action and very sharp engraving. Highly figured European walnut stock and forearm. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, and auto safety. Dickson number 18023 was made in 1939. Great balance and feel. Excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Presented in its leather case with maker’s label. Easy to carry for a day afield at 6lb 2oz.
The 28” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and was re-proofed in London in 1986. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are readily available in the US from Clays Ammo, Game Bore, and RST Shells. The bluing is excellent and the bores are shiny and bright. The barrels are topped by a raised solid concave rib on which is inscribed “J.Dickson & Son Incorporating Mortimer & Son Edinburgh”. The right barrel is bored 0.737 with a constriction of 0.000 for Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.024. The left barrel is also bored 0.737 and has a constriction of 0.039 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.023
The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of highly figured European walnut with honey and dark chocolate tones. Hand rubbed satin oil finish. Checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-1/4” to a checkered butt by 1-1/2” by 2”. Slightly cast-off for the righthanded shooter.
