John Dickson & Son Boxlock with 30” Nitro Damascus Barrels – Just Refurbished by the Maker
Description: *** SOLD *** JUST IN FROM SCOTLAND *** Beautiful John Dickson & Son 12 bore A&D boxlock non-ejector with 30” highly figured nitro Damascus barrels. Recently refurbished by Dickson’s in their workshop in Scotland number 3710 was made as an A&D pattern boxlock in 1881 and this one is in great condition! Engraving is sharp. This was the fourth A&D boxlock made by Dicksons and so it is an early gun and very rare. Automatic safety. Light game gun weight at 6lb 4oz.The order entry for this gun from the Dickon ledger is pictured below. We were recently given this gun to sell on consignment by the owner of John Dickson & Son. *** This gun has been through Dickson’s workshop in Scotland where all woodwork was cleaned and re-oiled. All the furniture was reblacked, all pins colored and it was serviced and cleaned. *** In addition, the ribs on the barrels were stripped and relaid. The barrel engraving was picked up and the barrels re-browned. The 30” nitro Damascus barrels are highly figured and chambered for 2-1/2" shotshells. The rib is inscribed "John Dickson & Son. 63 Princes Street. Edinburgh". The right barrel is bored 0.729 with a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.024. The left barrel is bored 0.735 and has a constriction of 0.037 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.023. *** The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made out of highly figured English walnut and have a thin horn buttplate. The engraving is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-5/8” by 1-1/2” by 2-1/8”. Cast off for the righthand shot. *** This gun from the legendary Scottish gunmaker is on face and in excellent mechanical condition. Perfect for game and clays. *** Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges.
