Presented for sale you will find 1975 Ducks Unlimited Winchester Model 12 Dinner Gun with a 30" barrel chambered for 2¾" 12 gauge ammunition. This particular shotgun has a very low serial number, 12DU010. 10 meaning it was number 10 of about 400.
This is a good looking Model 12 with very nice wood. It would look great in anyone's gun rack. It is also nice to show your buddies when they are over at you house and y'all are telling duck hunting stories.
I am sure some of you younger fellows are wondering why this is not a 3" gun. Well, this shotgun was made when us duck hunters shot lead, not steel. Good shots did not need or what 3" ammunition. As my late friend Ridgely would say, "you can kill a duck on de dark side of da moon with one of dem double cross magnums". Ridgely was right.
This shotgun was owned by a great sportsman that is no longer with us. He shot trap at a championship level and was a world class duck hunter. This shotgun is unfired; however, it was in his gun room for forty years. It does have some handling marks from those evenings with his friends admiring guns and telling great stories. In my opinion, the Winchester Model 12 is the best pump shotgun ever made without a close second.
In my opinion, this Winchester Model 12 warrants an NRA rating of Excellent. As I mentioned above, this shotgun is unfired but has handling marks. We do not have the original box.
