Abbiatico & Salvinelli Quatro Cannone (Quad Barrel 410)

Description:
Founded in 1967 by Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli, FAMARS quickly established itself among the premier makers of bespoke sporting arms, renowned for blending technical innovation with exceptional artistry. This remarkable four-barrel sub-gauge shotgun stands as a superb example of the firm’s ingenuity and craftsmanship, representing one of the more fascinating and mechanically sophisticated sporting arms produced in the modern era.
The gun is built with a cluster of four blued steel barrels fitted with a smooth concave solid rib and single brass bead sight, with “Abbiatico & Salvinelli” signed on the upper left tube. The barrels display tasteful engraving at the breech, a small engraved bouquet on the underside of the front lug, 1989 dated Italian proof marks, 3 inch chambers, and a single extractor system.
Equally impressive is the highly advanced coin finished action, an ingenious design capable of functioning as both a hammer gun and hammerless gun through the use of a single trigger mechanism. When the rebounding hammers are cocked, the first two trigger pulls fire the upper right and upper left barrels, while subsequent pulls engage the internal hammers to discharge the lower barrels. The design also allows the shooter to bypass the upper barrels entirely, firing the lower pair first when rapid engagement is required before cocking the external hammers for follow-up shots. The action is adorned with near full coverage English-style bouquet and scroll engraving extending across the fences, hammers, trigger guard, top lever, and tangs. The engraving was executed by renowned Italian Master Engraver Mauro Dassa, who signed the gun “M. Dassa” on the triggerplate beside the trigger guard. Additional features include a rolled right-hand trigger guard and tang mounted manual safety.
The gun is stocked with a beautifully figured walnut semi-beavertail forend featuring multi-point checkering, engraved coin finished iron, and an Anson push-button release. The matching straight grip buttstock incorporates a diamond hand, teardrop drop points, fine checkering, and a black Pachmayr Presentation recoil pad.
Accompanying the shotgun is its maker’s leather flat case containing the original proof certificate and four nickel plated snap caps. A truly exceptional and highly innovative creation from FAMARS, combining mechanical brilliance with the refined elegance expected of a best quality Italian sporting arm.
