Description
Franz Sodia of Ferlach produced firearms of unambiguous quality in the storied gunmaking tradition of Ferlach, Austria — a city whose guild-trained craftsmen rank among Europe's finest. This 20 gauge over/under, manufactured in 1965, is a well-made, lightweight field gun that handles easily at 6 lbs 6 oz, and the excellent bores and still-tight lockup attest to careful ownership over sixty years. Buyers seeking a quality European O/U at a fraction of comparable Italian or English prices should give this one a hard look.
Action & Metalwork
Over/under action with automatic ejectors — ejection is brisk and positive. Lockup is very tight. The receiver and metalwork show only very minor handling marks consistent with careful use — no significant wear, pitting, or abuse.
Barrels
26" barrels with ventilated top rib. Bores are excellent throughout — bright and smooth. Chambering: 20 gauge, 3" (76mm). Chokes: under barrel Skeet 1 (.613"), over barrel Extra Full (.587"). Note: the front bead is missing.
Stock
Walnut stock with hand-rubbed oil finish and crisp, hand-cut checkering. Beavertail forend. Excellent handling.
